Just so we're speaking the same language when it comes to cake, the following are some terms to know before placing your order!

CAKE SHAPES AND STYLES:

Sheet cake: A one layer, flat, rectangular cake.  I do not put fillings in sheet cakes.  A sheet cake is about two inches high.  It comes in three sizes (quarter, third, and half sheet).

Round cake: A two layer, round cake.  This cake can have a filling between the layers.  Unless otherwise requested, my cakes are filled with the same buttercream icing that is on the outside of your cake.  It stands about four inches high.  Round cakes come in many sizes, from 6 inches all the way up to 20 inches!

Square cake: A two layer, square cake.  This cake can have a filling between the layers.  Unless otherwise requested, my cakes are filled with the same buttercream icing that is on the outside of your cake.  It stands about four inches high.  Square cakes come in many sizes, from 6 inches all the way up to 20 inches!

Tiered cake:  A tiered cake is two or more round or square layer cakes that are stacked on top of each other in graduated sizes.  I typically stack my tiered cakes directly on top of each other, but they can also be separated by pillars.

ICINGS:

Buttercream:  A soft, smooth icing flavored with butter, vanilla, and a bit of almond.  This is my preferred finish for a cake.

Fondant:  A pliable dough made of sugar and marshmallows that can be rolled thin to cover a buttercream iced cake.  Fondant gives cakes a porcelain smooth finish, and it can also be used to make flowers, bows, and other realistic looking items to decorate your cake.
